Representative work

Applied AI and software engineering shaped by real operational constraints.

Our current work spans private AI, document intelligence and long-running enterprise software. The examples below describe the engineering patterns without disclosing confidential client identities.

Applied AI & private knowledge systems

AI work grounded in specialist knowledge and operational data.

These engagements demonstrate two AI patterns: private/local deployment and document-centric knowledge systems.

Applied AIPrivate deploymentDelivered

Private domain-specific AI platform

Designed and deployed a locally hosted AI environment for a psychology professional.

System scope

Locally hosted language models, domain-specific knowledge retrieval, semantic search and RAG-oriented workflows designed around specialist reference material.

Engineering focus

Model selection, quantization and deployment on modest on-premise GPU hardware, with a focus on privacy and practical infrastructure costs.

Established engineering foundation

AI backed by years of enterprise software work.

The AI systems above build on the same capabilities used for long-running production applications: databases, APIs, reporting, mobile clients, background processing, integrations and operational support.

Enterprise operationsLong-running platformArchitecture leadership

Multi-location education management platform

Engineering and support for an enterprise platform serving a franchise education business with tightly connected operational workflows.

System scope

Student enrollment, instructors, curriculum, scheduling, billing, taxation, communications, reporting and franchise operations.

Engineering focus

Maintaining business continuity while extending a mature system, integrating external services and modernizing selected components incrementally.

Notification architecture

NSCS led the design of a dedicated notification-server architecture for high-volume scheduled messaging and time-sensitive transactional notifications.

Design considerations

The design addressed message queues, provider-aware rate limiting, priority allocation, scheduled delivery across U.S. time zones, background processing, retry handling and delivery-state tracking.

Beyond API integration. The notification subsystem had to coordinate business rules, message priorities, provider throughput constraints and production-scale workloads while ensuring transactional communications could take precedence over bulk campaigns.

Public sectorScientific informationCurrent work

Scientific information & field reporting platform

A public-facing information platform paired with mobile field reporting for structured observations collected outside reliable network conditions.

System scope

CMS-managed information, structured species data, field submissions, images, GPS/location context, moderation, search and accessibility-oriented public content.

Engineering focus

Offline-first data capture, synchronization, public-sector accessibility requirements, multilingual considerations and a maintainable web/mobile architecture.

Retail operationsInventory

Retail, inventory & billing platform

A business system designed around product variation, stock movement, billing, tax and operational traceability.

System scope

Flexible product attributes, goods inward, storage locations, stock transfers, write-offs, GST-aware billing, customer data and reporting.

Engineering focus

A schema and workflow model that preserves inventory history while supporting practical day-to-day retail operations and future extension.

ModernizationIntegration

Business-critical application modernization

Incremental work on existing applications where replacing the entire system would introduce more operational risk than value.

System scope

Legacy Web APIs, authentication/session handling, background jobs, messaging, mobile consumers, reporting and database-heavy business logic.

Engineering focus

Untangling dependencies, improving reliability, upgrading frameworks and introducing modern patterns without losing years of embedded business behavior.

The common thread

We work inside systems that already have a history.

We are comfortable entering systems with history: inherited schemas, operational exceptions, third-party dependencies, existing users and constraints that cannot be wished away.
